Integrity, competence, impact: what holds a practice up

Ola's framework for why dedicated professionals lose their footing, and which of the three pillars always gives way first.

The pattern, repeated

In nine years of working with dedicated professionals, Ola has watched the same sequence return again and again. Creeping exhaustion. Encroaching self-doubt. Emotional fog. A ceiling on client results.

It is rarely a problem of commitment or competence — which is precisely what makes it so disorienting for the people living it, because commitment and competence are the two things they can verify about themselves.

It is the effect of a silent misalignment, reinforced by neuro-emotional patterns that have built up beneath the surface.

The three pillars

Three things sustain a thriving, lasting practice.

  • Integrity — your values.
  • Competence — your method.
  • Impact — your results.

When all three are aligned, the practice feels natural. Confidence is steady. Energy flows, and the impact of the work is clear and discernible. Each pillar feeds the others, which is the part people underestimate: this is not a checklist of three independent things to maintain.

Why integrity goes first

It is almost always integrity that wavers first, and then the whole triangle gradually weakens.

That order makes sense once you look at it. Competence is the most visible to you — you can audit your training. Impact is the most visible to others — clients report it. Integrity is the only one of the three that nobody checks, including you, because it does not produce an obvious signal when it slips.

So it slips quietly. You keep showing up. You keep delivering. But something is leaking. Energy. Pleasure. Confidence.

And the natural response — doing more, acquiring another tool — reinforces the misalignment, because it addresses competence, which was never the pillar that failed.

Why you cannot repair it directly

This is where the framework separates from a diagnostic quiz. Knowing which pillar is fragile does not repair it, in exactly the way that knowing your pattern has never once stopped it.

Reset works on three types of interference underneath the triangle: the emotional patterns that cloud your alignment, the tension patterns that block your competence from fully expressing, and the limiting beliefs that cap your impact.

We do not work on the triangle. We restore the conditions for it to rebalance naturally.

The process is non-volitional. You do not force change or discipline yourself into a new way of being. When the nervous system releases what it has been holding, the structure rebalances on its own — and in nine sessions out of ten the charge on the target situation reduces or disappears within the session itself.

Ola's opening question to every practitioner she meets is worth sitting with: which of these three pillars feels most fragile for you right now? That is usually where everything begins. The Practice Reset is the twelve-week programme built around the answer.
